Compilation of presentations from the Fourth International Congress of Comparative History. Although the case for comparative history is unclear, this mixed bag of essays has some interesting readings, mostly on the history of northern Mexico. Sections on colonial literary texts and the praxis of contemporary primary schools in northern Mexico exemplify the bric-a-brac nature of these volumes –Handbook of Latin American Studies, v. 58.
